A: The HS-5061 sits in the open space at the rear of the icemaker and overhangs the base slightly. It must be level, and the icemaker's copper tubing should be moved carefully if needed so it doesn't touch the pump or hoses.
Q: How Do You Test the HS-5061 Drain Pump After Installation?
A: Slowly pour 24 to 30 oz of water over the storage bin drain hole and confirm it discharges through the hose, then check that the pump shuts off and there are no leaks. At least 24 oz of water is needed to activate the pump.
Q: Why Is the Vent Hose Important on the HS-5061?
A: The drain pump will not operate correctly with a blocked or kinked vent hose. On these undercounter models, the supplied 3/8" ID × 27.5" vent hose must be cut to 19.5" and secured to the icemaker with the included hose clips and screws. A blocked or kinked vent hose will prevent correct pump operation and can cause water damage.

The Hoshizaki HS-5061 drain pump installs inside the rear of approved Hoshizaki undercounter icemakers and plugs directly into the icemaker's drain pump connector. Hoshizaki requires installation by a qualified service technician, and a plumbing permit and licensed plumber may be required in some areas.
Key Installation Requirements:
- Approved icemaker: AM-50, C-100, or C-101 Series, KM-61/101BAH, or KM-80/81/115/116BAJ
- Icemaker plugged into a properly grounded, independent 3-prong wall outlet
- Suitable drain within a 20 ft maximum discharge hose length and 8 ft maximum lift height
- Minimum 2" air gap at a floor drain, or an air gap device (not included) where code requires it for a sink drain pipe
- Drain pump installed level inside the icemaker
Important Notes Before Installing the HS-5061:
- The pump has a factory-installed check valve. Do not install any additional check valves.
- KM models require an inlet hose (472482R01), joint pipe (472483P01), and nylon ties (8911-0200). These come in the KM-81BAJ and KM-116BAJ accessory bag but must be ordered separately for KM-61/101BAH and KM-80/115BAJ.
- On AM-50 and C Series units, the 3/8" ID vent hose is cut to 19.5". The 5/8" ID drain hose is cut to 5" on -AD/-ADDS units and to 4" on C-101BAH units.
- Leave enough extra tubing so the icemaker can be pulled out for service, and keep all hoses free of traps and kinks.
- Always refer to the official Hoshizaki HS-5061 Spec Sheet for model-specific steps, parts, and warranty information.
Basic Installation Overview:
- Turn the icemaker control switch to "OFF" and unplug the unit.
- Remove the rear cover and panels, then remove the original drain fitting.
- Connect the drain hose or inlet hose and place the drain pump level inside the icemaker.
- Connect the vent hose with the small clamp and the discharge hose with the medium clamp, then secure the vent hose to the icemaker with the hose clips and screws.
- Remove the jumper plug and connect the drain pump to the icemaker's drain pump connector.
- Route the discharge hose to a suitable drain with the required air gap.
- Pour 24 to 30 oz of water into the bin, confirm discharge and pump shut-off, then test the internal safety switch.
