Orders that ship directly from a manufacturer normally have a firm shipping estimate but those dates are subject to change due to manufacturer production, inventory or shipping. We do our best to estimate ship dates but orders shipping directly from the manufacturer can have unexpected delays. We will confirm tracking information when orders ship directly from a manufacturer but may not have updates or estimates beyond the original estimate. Once your order is placed with the manufacturer, it may not be able to be cancelled even if it hasn't shipped yet.

The Zurn 34-ZW1017XL is installed at the domestic water heater outlet where it mixes hot and cold water to deliver tempered water throughout the distribution system. It works in conjunction with a T&P relief valve at the water heater and provides safe water temperature to hot water appliances and fixtures. Installation with a shut-off valve and thermometer in the tempered water line is recommended for accurate temperature monitoring and should be used with an ASSE 1070 point-of-use device.
Standards Compliance:
ASSE Listed 1017; cUPC Listed; CSA Certified B125.3; Meets the requirements of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-9 (0.25% MAX. WEIGHTED AVERAGE LEAD CONTENT)
Features & Benefits:
- Superior Temperature Accuracy: Maintains ±4°F accuracy with minimum 0.5 gpm flow and 20°F minimum hot-to-outlet differential, ensuring safe water temperatures from minimum to maximum flow rates.
- Lead-Free Construction: Ideal for applications where lead-free valves are required, meeting NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-9 standards with 0.25% maximum weighted average lead content.
- Multiple End Configurations: Available in FNPT, copper sweat, PEX barb, CPVC, and MNPT connections, making installation suitable for all residential and most light commercial applications.

FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the Wilkins 34-ZW1017XL and point-of-use mixing valves?
A: The Wilkins 34-ZW1017XL is designed for installation at the hot water source (water heater) to temper water throughout the distribution system. Point-of-use devices (ASSE 1070) should still be installed at individual fixtures where end users could access the temperature control. The ZW1017XL should never be installed where end users can change its setting.
Q: What are the minimum temperature requirements for proper operation?
A: The valve requires a minimum 20°F approach temperature between the hot supply and outlet setting. Hot supply temperature should be 120–195°F maximum, and cold supply temperature should be 40–75°F. This differential ensures accurate mixing and safe tempered water delivery.
Q: Can I install the Zurn 34-ZW1017XL with different hot and cold inlet pressures?
A: The maximum pressure differential between hot and cold inlets is 15 psi. For optimal performance and temperature accuracy, inlet pressures should be as balanced as possible. If pressure differential exceeds this specification, pressure balancing devices may be required.
NOTICE: Do not use with water that is unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection either before or after the system.
