A: The Haws 6478 is designed as a universal retrofit solution that wall-mounts above or below most existing drinking fountains and bottle fillers that lack built-in filtration. It uses standard 3/8" OD push-to-connect plumbing fittings for straightforward integration.
Q: How does the filter lifecycle monitor work, and does it require an external power source?
A: The monitor is battery-powered using 2 AA batteries (included) and requires no external wiring. It automatically tracks water volume and installation date, providing audible beep alerts and blinking display indicators when the filter is nearing or has reached end-of-life.
Q: Can the Haws 6478 filter cabinet be upgraded to remove PFAS/PFOA contaminants?
A: Yes. The cabinet is upgrade-ready and compatible with the optional Model 6445 PFAS/PFOA filter cartridge. When installing this optional filter, the monitor must be reprogrammed to reflect the 2,500-gallon capacity using the onboard display and reset buttons.
