How to Install the Everpure EV932402 (Insurice Twin-i20002) System

Everpure EV932402 (Insurice Twin-i20002) System Installation

The Everpure EV932402 (Insurice Twin-i20002) System is a twin-cartridge filtration system for commercial ice machines. It is built for foodservice operations, with both i20002 cartridges mounted on a single manifold.

Everpure EV932402 system installation takes an estimated 15–30 minutes for a first-time setup, and this guide walks through each step from mounting to start-up. After installation, replace the cartridges on time with our Everpure EV961222 Filter Replacement Guide, because an expired cartridge stops filtering and water quality drops.

Safety & Preparation

Choose the Mounting Location

The mounting surface must hold the system's full operating weight of 18 lb (8.1 kg) and fit its 25.26" H x 16.6" W x 5.5" D footprint. Pentair's installation guide lists the Twin system at 19 lb (8.5 kg), so choose a surface that can carry at least that. Leave 2-1/2 inches (6.35 cm) of open space below the cartridges so they can come out for changes. Pick a spot near a drain for the flushing valve, with room to run the inlet and outlet lines.

Everpure EV932402 Insurice Twin-i20002 dimension drawing, 25.26 inches high by 16.6 inches wide, with 3/4-inch MNPT inlet and 3/4-inch FNPT outlet

Insurice Twin-i20002 System Dimensions

🔍 Before you start: confirm your water supply and ice machine fall within these limits:

💧 Service flow: maximum 3.34 gpm (12.6 Lpm). Do not exceed it.
📈 Pressure: 10–125 psi (0.7–8.6 bar), non-shock
🌡️ Temperature: cold water only, 35–100°F (2–38°C)
🧊 Ice machine sizing: cubers up to 1,450 lbs/day, flakers up to 2,200 lbs/day

The inlet is 3/4" MNPT and the outlet is 3/4" FNPT, sized for a 3/4" water line. Check both against your existing line before you begin.

⚠️ Safety Precautions

🚫 Confirm the water supply is microbiologically safe. Do not use the system on unsafe water, or water of unknown quality, without adequate disinfection before or after it.
⛔ Never connect the system with a saddle valve.
❄️ Do not connect the system to a water-cooled condenser.
📋 Check state and local plumbing codes, including any air-gap requirement at the drain.
👷 A licensed plumber is recommended for the installation.

Step-by-Step Installation

🔧 6 STEPS · ABOUT 15–30 MINUTES
1
Shut Off Power & Water. Shut off power to the ice machine, then shut off the water supply to the line you will connect.
2
Mount the System. Confirm the location meets the weight and clearance requirements in Safety & Preparation. Use the predrilled holes in the manifold bracket to mark and drill anchor holes, then mount the system securely and vertically, with the cartridges hanging down.
3
Connect the Outlet & Inlet. Connect the outlet port to the ice machine, then connect the inlet to the 3/4-inch cold water line. Use NSF-approved pipe dope or plumber tape at every connection, and hold each fitting with a backup wrench while you tighten it.
4
Run the Flushing Valve to a Drain. Run tubing from the flushing valve to a drain. Leave an air gap at the drain where local code requires one.
5
Install Both Cartridges. Hold the head firmly, align the cartridge lug with the head label, and push the cartridge in firmly. Turn it right 90 degrees until rotation stops, then repeat for the second head.
6
Check for Leaks, Flush & Restore Power. Turn the water on and check for leaks. Flush the system as described in What to Expect After Installation, close the flushing valve, then restore power to the ice machine.

Common Installation Mistakes

Red cards mark mistakes to avoid entirely. Amber cards mark mistakes you can fix after the fact, and each one explains how. When another section covers a requirement in full, the card links to it.

🚫
Saddle Valve, Condenser Line, or Wrong Line Size

The spec sheet rules out saddle valves and says not to connect the system to a water-cooled condenser. Run the outlet to the ice machine's water inlet only, and supply the system from a 3/4-inch line with threaded fittings that match the connections in Safety & Preparation.

📈
Running Above the Maximum Flow Rate

The spec sheet says the service flow must not exceed its rated maximum. Before you install, check that your ice machine stays within the flow limit and sizing in Safety & Preparation.

⚡
Restoring Power Before the Flush Is Done

New cartridges must be flushed before they go into service. Run tubing from the flushing valve to the drain before the first flush, keep the ice machine off until the flush is finished, and close the valve afterward. If the valve was left open, close it now. The flush is covered in What to Expect After Installation.

🔧
Skipping Sealant or the Backup Wrench

Every threaded connection needs NSF-approved pipe dope or plumber tape. Hold each fitting with a backup wrench while you tighten it, so the system components aren't put under stress. If a joint seeps, shut off the water, disconnect it, apply sealant, and reconnect it.

📐
Weak, Tilted, or Cramped Mounting

The system is heavier full of water than it is in the box, the cartridges must hang straight down, and they need open space below to come out for changes. If the mounting falls short on any of these, shut off the water and remount the system through the bracket's predrilled holes to meet the requirements in Safety & Preparation.

🔄
Cartridge Not Locked In, or a Head Left Empty

Each head needs its own cartridge, lined up and turned the full 90 degrees. If a cartridge isn't seated, shut off power and water and open the flushing valve to relieve pressure. Then realign the lug with the head label and turn the cartridge until rotation stops, as in step 5 of Step-by-Step Installation. Fill any empty head before you turn the water back on.

What to Expect After Installation

Start-Up: Flush the System

With both cartridges installed and the water on, open the flushing valve fully and run water through the system at full flow for five minutes. Then close the valve. The flush sets the filter media and purges air and fine particles, so some sputtering at the drain early on is normal. Once the valve is closed, check every fitting and both cartridge heads for leaks.

Read the Outlet Pressure Gauge

While the ice machine runs, the needle should show adequate pressure. If the needle sits in the red during operation but shows adequate line pressure between cycles, it is time to replace the cartridges, as covered in When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge. A single low reading can come from a brief power failure or a short drop in incoming pressure, so watch the next run cycle before you replace anything. Use the two columns below to sort what you see:

✅ Normal After Installation

🚿 Flush complete and the flushing valve closed
🔒 No moisture at any fitting or at either cartridge head
🧭 Gauge needle showing adequate pressure while the machine runs
🧊 Ice machine powered on and running normally

🔎 Worth a Second Look

💧 Drips or dampness at a fitting or a cartridge head
🚰 Water still running to the drain after the flush
📉 Gauge needle in the red with newly flushed cartridges

The system is ready for use once the flush is complete, the fittings and cartridge heads stay dry, the gauge reads adequate pressure, and the ice machine is running normally. If anything matches the right-hand column, go to Troubleshooting & FAQ.

Official Product Resources

For Everpure EV932402 system installation, Pentair's Insurice installation and operation guide is the official reference. It covers every Insurice system size, so follow the Twin entries. The EV9324-02 spec sheet lists this system's flow rate, capacity, operating limits, dimensions, and connections.

When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge

Replace both cartridges on a six-month preventive maintenance schedule. Replace them sooner if either sign below shows up first:

🗓️
Every Six Months

The standard replacement schedule, even if neither sign has appeared yet.

💧
Capacity Reached

18,000 gallons for the system, which is 9,000 gallons per cartridge.

📉
Pressure Below 10 psi

A drop below 10 psi (0.7 bar) means the cartridges need replacing ahead of schedule.

🧭 Outlet pressure gauge: the gauge on the manifold shows when pressure has dropped, so you don't have to guess. How to read it is covered in What to Expect After Installation.

Replace both cartridges at the same time, and flush the system after every change as described in What to Expect After Installation. To set it and forget it, an optional 12-month subscription delivers a 6-pack once a year, enough for three two-cartridge changes. The subscription only keeps you stocked. The schedule and signs above still decide when the cartridges come out.

The replacement cartridge is the Everpure EV961222 (EV9612-22) i20002, which the spec sheet names for this system. Each head takes one, so every change uses two. It has a quick-change, quarter-turn design and seats the same way as in step 5 of Step-by-Step Installation. The open-box option is the same unused cartridge at a discounted price. Its listing states it has no factory warranty and is not returnable.

How to Maximize the Lifespan of Your Filter

These routine habits keep the Twin-i20002 running as designed and make cartridge changes faster:

  • Stay within the rated limits: water running above the flow limit, or outside the pressure and temperature range, shortens cartridge life. The limits are in Safety & Preparation.
  • Check the pressure gauge on a routine: regular looks during normal operation help you catch a pressure drop early.
  • Keep the space below the cartridges open: don't let storage or equipment crowd the clearance needed to lower the cartridges out.
  • Watch for leaks: look over the fittings and tubing during routine checks, and reseat or reseal any connection that shows moisture.
  • Clean the exterior gently: wipe the system down with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Keep a replacement log: record the date of each change so the next one is easy to plan.
  • Leave room for a prefilter: if possible, keep about 6 inches free on each side of the system in case poor water quality later calls for an optional prefilter.

Replace both cartridges on time, following the schedule and signs in When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How long does Everpure Insurice Twin-i20002 system installation take?

An estimated 15 to 30 minutes for a first-time installation. The full sequence is in Step-by-Step Installation.

Do I need a professional to install the system?

A licensed plumber is recommended. The installation must also comply with state and local plumbing codes.

Will the system suit my ice machine?

The spec sheet sizes it for cubers up to 1,450 lbs/day and flakers up to 2,200 lbs/day. Compare your machine's daily ice production with those figures, and check the full operating limits in Safety & Preparation.

Why is a cartridge head leaking?

The cartridge is usually not fully seated. Shut off power to the ice machine and the inlet water, then open the flushing valve to relieve pressure. Reseat the cartridge by aligning the lug with the head label, pushing it in firmly, and turning it right the full 90 degrees until rotation stops.

Why is flow or pressure low after installation?

Check that the flushing valve is closed first. Then confirm both cartridges are locked in, neither head was left empty, and nothing is restricting the inlet water line.

How long should I flush the system after installation?

Five minutes at full flow, with the flushing valve fully open. Then close the valve and check for leaks. The full start-up checks are in What to Expect After Installation.

When should I replace the cartridges?

Replace both on the six-month preventive maintenance schedule, or sooner if capacity is reached or pressure falls below 10 psi. The full guidance is in When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge.

Which cartridge fits the Twin-i20002?

The Everpure EV961222 (EV9612-22) i20002 cartridge. Each head takes one, so every change uses two.

Why are both cartridges replaced together?

Pentair specifies that all cartridges on a multiple-cartridge system be changed at the same time.

What does the pressure gauge reading mean?

While the ice machine runs, the needle should show adequate pressure. A needle in the red during operation, with adequate line pressure between cycles, means it is time to replace the cartridges.

If your setup calls for a different configuration than the Twin-i20002, compare the related Insurice systems below. After them comes the simplest way to keep i20002 cartridges in stock.
