How to Install the Everpure EV927151 (H‑300‑NXT) Drinking Water System

Everpure EV927151 H‑300‑NXT Drinking Water System Installation

The Everpure EV927151 (H-300-NXT) Drinking Water System is a residential under-sink drinking water system that provides filtered water for drinking and cooking. It reduces chlorine taste and odor, lead, microplastics, and pharmaceuticals in cold water, delivers it at a dedicated drinking faucet, and ships with a side faucet.

This guide covers first-time installation, which takes about 15-30 minutes. When it is time to change the cartridge later, use the separate EV927441 replacement guide.

Safety & Preparation

Check the Mounting Location

Plan for 5 inches wide, 22 inches high, and 5 inches deep of cabinet space, which includes 2.5 inches of clear room under the unit for future cartridge changes. The head and cartridge mount vertically, with the cartridge hanging down.

⚠️ Safety Precautions

🚰 Confirm the water is cold, microbiologically safe, and of known quality. Otherwise it needs disinfection before or after the system
📉 Operating limits: 10 to 125 psi (non-shock) and 35 to 100°F, cold water only
📜 Follow your state and local plumbing codes
🚫 Do not use saddle valves. The manual notes the Universal Plumbing Code prohibits them
🚫 Do not pair copper tubing with the supplied John Guest quick-connect fittings. If copper is required, use copper compression fittings
🚫 Do not connect the system to a commercial ice maker

⚠️ Note: Tools, materials, and operating limits are per the manufacturer's H-Series manual and spec sheet. Always comply with local plumbing codes.

Step-by-Step Installation

🔧 8 STEPS · ABOUT 15–30 MINUTES · BASIC TOOLS REQUIRED
1
Mark the Mounting Height. Measure 22 inches up from the cabinet base and mark where the top of the head will sit. Leave enough space above it to operate the shut-off handle without kinking the tubing.
2
Fit the Elbows and Mount the Head. Wrap plumber's tape on both elbow fittings. Thread the inlet elbow into the left side of the head and the black-banded outlet elbow, which holds the flow restrictor, into the right side. Tighten both by hand only. Then screw the head to the cabinet wall.
3
Shut Off the Water and Fit the Angle Stop Adaptor. Close the cold angle stop valve and open the faucet to relieve pressure. Disconnect the braided line, fit the angle stop adaptor, and reattach the braided line to the top of the adaptor.
4
Check the Supply and Connect the Tubing. Close the adaptor's side valve, reopen the angle stop, and check for leaks. Cut the tubing square with a sharp knife and push it into the quick-connect fittings, then tug gently to confirm it is seated.
5
Connect the Drinking Faucet. Run tubing from the outlet elbow to the faucet connector on the separate drinking faucet. Install that faucet following its own instructions.
6
Install the Cartridge. Lift the shut-off handle and hold the head steady. Align the cartridge lug with the label on the head, push the cartridge upward, and turn it to the right about a quarter turn until it stops.
7
Check for Leaks and Flush. Open the adaptor's side valve and check for leaks up to the inlet elbow. Open the filtered faucet, then lower the shut-off handle and flush at full flow for at least 5 minutes.
8
Activate the Filter Timer. Pinch the bubble on the filter timer until it pops, then stick the timer somewhere you can see it.

⚠️ Note: These steps follow the Basic Installation Instructions in the Everpure H-Series manual.

Common Installation Mistakes

These are the setup errors to watch for, grouped by where they happen and starting with the one that should never be done.

🚫
Prohibited Parts

Never run copper tubing into the supplied John Guest fittings, and never use a saddle valve. Both cautions are covered in Safety & Preparation, and neither belongs in this installation.

📐
Mounting Errors

The head must hang vertically at the height you marked. Leave room above it for the shut-off handle and below it for cartridge changes, or the unit becomes difficult to operate and service.

💧
Connection Leaks

Common causes are reversing the inlet and outlet elbows, tightening past hand tight, and leaving plumber's tape off the elbow threads. On the tubing side, cut ends at an angle, push-in connections that were never tug-tested, and sharp bends all lead to leaks or restricted flow.

🔄
Cartridge Not Seated

Three slips cause most cartridge problems: the shut-off handle was not lifted first, the cartridge was not pushed fully upward before turning, or the turn stopped short of the quarter turn. Remove the cartridge, realign the lug with the label on the head, and turn it until it stops.

🚿
Flow Problems

Weak or no flow often comes from the adaptor's side valve or the drinking faucet still being closed, or from a flush that was cut short. Step 7 in Step-by-Step Installation covers both.

What to Expect After Installation

Once the Everpure EV927151 is installed, check every joint for moisture: the angle stop adaptor, both elbow fittings, the tubing connections, the head, and the faucet connector. The flush time is covered in Step 7 of Step-by-Step Installation.

✅ Normal During the First Flush

🌫️ Cloudy water and sputtering from trapped air, which should clear
🚿 Flow at the drinking faucet settling at the system's controlled 0.5 gpm

🔎 Worth a Second Look

💧 Moisture or dripping at any joint
🌫️ Cloudiness that lasts more than a week, which is not normal start-up behavior

The system is ready for use when the water runs clear, flow is steady, and everything stays dry. Also confirm the filter timer is activated and where you can see it.

If anything lands in the right-hand column, recheck the connections and the cartridge position using Common Installation Mistakes.

Official Product Resources

The H-Series installation and operation manual covers several H-series models, so follow the H-300-NXT entries for parts and dimensions.

When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge

Replace the cartridge at whichever of these comes first. Actual life depends on household usage and incoming water quality.

💧
300 Gallons

The rated capacity of the cartridge.

🐌
Flow Becomes Too Slow

Replace it even if the other limits have not been reached.

📅
At Least Once a Year

The longest a cartridge should stay in service.

The filter timer turns completely red when it is time. The replacement is the Everpure EV927441, listed by the spec sheet and manual for the H-300-NXT. The manual gives the standard H-300 a different part number (EV927072).

How to Maximize the Lifespan of Your Filter

A few routine habits help the system keep performing as designed:

  • Stay within the operating limits. Keep the system inside the pressure and temperature limits listed in Safety & Preparation.
  • Keep the tubing run short. Use the shortest length that avoids sharp bends, as the spec sheet advises.
  • Keep the space below the head clear. This lets you remove the cartridge easily when it is due.
  • Check fittings and tubing now and then. Look for slow leaks so a small drip does not turn into a larger one.
  • Wipe the exterior. Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Replace on schedule. Follow the triggers in When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge rather than waiting for flow to drop.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

What should I do if the head leaks after installation?

The cartridge is probably not fully seated. Realign the lug with the label on the head, push it up, and turn it until it stops. If water is escaping at a tubing connection, recut the tubing square and reseat it firmly.

What should I check if there is low or no flow at the faucet?

Confirm the angle stop valve and the adaptor's side valve are fully open, the shut-off handle is lowered, and the tubing is not kinked. If flow is still slow after the flush in Step 7 of Step-by-Step Installation, recheck the cartridge turn.

Why is the water cloudy or sputtering?

This is expected right after installation and clears as air leaves the system. See What to Expect After Installation.

Do I need a separate faucet?

Yes. The system requires a dedicated drinking water faucet, and the spec sheet lists a side faucet as included.

When should I replace the cartridge, and which part number do I need?

See When to Replace Your Filter Cartridge for the schedule and the part number.
