Zoeller 519-0005 Installation Instructions & Guidance

The Zoeller 519-0005 is designed for straightforward installation below your HVAC or refrigeration equipment's condensate drain and arrives ready to connect. Installation by a qualified HVAC technician or licensed electrician is recommended to ensure proper drainage, discharge routing, and electrical and safety switch connections.

Key Installation Requirements:

  • Mounting location below the evaporator and/or furnace drain
  • Grounded, GFCI-protected 115V receptacle within reach of the 6 ft power cord (no extension cords)
  • 3/8" ID discharge tubing (not included)
  • Hose clamp for the discharge connection (recommended, not included)
  • 24V Class II thermostat circuit for the safety switch connection

Important Notes Before Installing the 519-0005:

  • Installation must not exceed a maximum of 15 ft of vertical lift.
  • Install the pump level within 1/8" across its length, and support drain lines so no weight rests on the reservoir.
  • Do not use flexible tubing larger than 3/8" ID, and plug the pump into a constant voltage source, not a device that cycles on and off.
  • Local codes may require a condensate neutralizer when the pump is used with a condensing furnace.
  • The pump is evaluated for use with water only, and all drain and discharge plumbing must meet local codes.
  • Always refer to the official Zoeller 519-0005 Spec Sheet for performance data, dimensions, and compliance information.

Basic Installation Overview:

  1. Place the pump below the equipment drain, or attach it to a wall or the side of the appliance using the two built-in mounting brackets.
  2. Cut the end of each drain line at a 45° angle and insert it through an inlet until the tip contacts the bottom of the reservoir, keeping a continuous downward slope for gravity flow.
  3. Connect the 3/8" ID discharge tubing to the barbed check valve, run it up to the highest point possible (ideally more than 5 ft above the floor), then slope it continuously downward to the main drain. If a downward slope isn't possible, form an inverted "U" at the highest point.
  4. Wire the safety switch leads into the 24V thermostat circuit so the equipment shuts off if an overflow occurs.
  5. With the discharge line in place, plug in the pump and pour water through an inlet until it activates.
  6. Test the safety switch: unplug the pump, run the appliance, and add water until the appliance shuts off. Plug the pump back in; the appliance resets once the tank empties.
