Installation
- Close the upstream shut‑off valve and open a downstream faucet to relieve line pressure.
- Note the height of the adjustment bolt, then loosen the locknut and back the bolt out to remove spring tension.
- Remove the bell housing, spring, spring disc, and friction ring.
- Pull out the old cartridge assembly using pliers on the retaining bolt.
- Flush the valve body to remove debris, then inspect internal surfaces for damage.
- Apply silicone grease to the o‑rings on the new RK34‑NR3XL cartridge and insert it into the valve body until seated.
- Reinstall the friction ring (raised edge up), spring, spring disc, and bell housing.
- Thread the adjustment bolt back in to the recorded height, then tighten the locknut.
- Slowly open the upstream shut‑off valve, purge air, and check for leaks.
- Adjust outlet pressure as needed using a downstream gauge, then retighten the locknut.
- For detailed steps, refer to the installation manual provided in the package or contact a licensed plumber.
Maintenance
- Inspect the valve annually with a downstream pressure gauge to confirm outlet set pressure.
- Clean the cartridge screen and diaphragm if pressure creep or reduced flow is observed.
- Replace the cartridge if the diaphragm, seal ring, or seat show cuts, tears, or wear.
- Check for external leaks; replace the valve if the body is damaged or corroded.
- Do not bottom out the adjustment bolt when setting pressure.
