The Shurflo 94-470-01 (LVPO-F3, 12 Pack) is a 5-micron inline carbon and scale-inhibitor replacement cartridge for Shurflo LVPO (Low Volume Per Outlet) filter systems. It reduces chlorine taste and odor, particulates, and scale buildup, and is NSF/ANSI 42 certified. It is commonly used with ice machines and coffee brewers and is rated for 3.0 GPM and up to 6,000 gallons.
Before You Begin
- Tools needed: a bucket, a towel, and a marker to date the new cartridge.
- Safety first: Install on the cold water line only. Water pressure should be 20–125 psi and water temperature 40–100°F. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection.
- Mounting: The LVPO has 3/8" NPT inlet and outlet connections and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Make sure the arrow on the cartridge head points in the direction of water flow.
Step-by-Step Replacement Guide
- Shut off the water supply to the filter and relieve pressure by opening a nearby faucet or the downstream equipment's dispense valve until flow stops. Place a bucket and towel under the filter to catch residual water.
- Disconnect the used LVPO cartridge from the inline filter head using the quick-change fittings, then set it aside for disposal.
- Inspect the double O-ring ball valve fittings on the head for wear, debris, or damage, and clean or replace the O-rings as needed to ensure a leak-free seal.
- Remove the caps from the new LVPO-F3 cartridge, line it up with the head so the flow arrow matches the water direction, and connect it until it is fully seated.
- Turn the water supply back on slowly and check all fittings closely for leaks.
- Flush the cartridge at full flow for 5 minutes to remove loose carbon fines and air before returning the system to service, then write the install date on the cartridge.
