Hoshizaki KM-81BAJ and KM-116BAJ Installation guide

Installation

  • Position the Hoshizaki KM‑81BAJ or KM‑116BAJ in a permanent indoor location with ambient temperature between 45°F–100°F and water temperature between 45°F–90°F.
  • Allow at least 12" clearance at the front and 5/8" clearance at the top for service access; provide space at the rear for water and drain connections.
  • Level the icemaker front‑to‑rear and side‑to‑side; optional legs (6"–7") can be installed and adjusted for leveling. If mounting flat to a counter, seal the perimeter with approved caulk.
  • Electrical connection must be to a dedicated 115V/60Hz/1‑phase circuit with proper breaker or fuse; plug into a grounded 3‑prong outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  • Connect the icemaker water supply to the 1/2" FPT inlet using minimum 1/4" ID copper tubing; install a shut‑off valve and drain valve.
  • Connect the drain to the 3/4" FPT outlet using minimum 3/4" ID hard pipe; maintain a 2" vertical air gap to the floor drain and slope horizontal runs 1/4" per foot.
  • Check refrigerant lines and compressor mounting pads; ensure fan blade turns freely.
  • For detailed steps, refer to the installation manual provided in the package or contact a licensed plumber/electrician.

Maintenance

  • Follow the recommended maintenance schedule: clean and sanitize the water system and ice bin regularly.
  • Inspect and clean the condenser air filter and louvers to maintain airflow.
  • Check water supply pressure (10–113 PSIG) and verify proper drainage; clean strainers or filters as needed.
  • Inspect refrigerant lines and compressor mounting pads; ensure components are secure.
  • Prepare the Hoshizaki KM‑81BAJ or KM‑116BAJ for long storage by draining the water system and disconnecting power if ambient temperature may drop below freezing.
  • Clean exterior panels with mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives.
  • Disconnect power and water supply before servicing internal components to avoid hazards.
  • For service or repairs, consult the manual or a certified service representative.
