Key Installation Requirements:
- Floor-mounted/freestanding installation on a properly prepared concrete mounting pad
- Underground cold water supply line with a dedicated service shut-off valve
- Freeze-resistant valve assembly installed below the local frost line or in a non-freezing area
- Water supply pressure between 20–105 PSI; install a pressure regulator if inlet pressure exceeds 105 PSI
- Underground PVC valve column with adequate porous drainage fill and appropriate plumbing connections
- Combined drainage system for the drinking fountain, bottle filler, and freeze-resistant valve assembly
- Minimum 3/8-inch mounting fasteners (not included) secured into the concrete mounting pad
- Allow sufficient access around the PVC valve column for future inspection and maintenance
Important Notes Before Installing:
- Do not install the freeze-resistant valve above the frost line. It must remain in a non-freezing area to prevent freezing and damage.
- Flush the water supply line thoroughly before connecting it to the freeze-resistant valve assembly.
- Do not pull up on the connecting tubes coming out of the PVC column, as this can raise the valve above the frost line.
- Cut all tubing to the correct length. Do not coil excess tubing, as this may interfere with proper valve operation.
- Maintain a straight downward water supply line from the fountain bubbler to the freeze-resistant valve to allow proper drainage and prevent trapped water from freezing.
- Keep the PVC valve column vertical during installation and backfilling.
- Provide adequate drainage and follow applicable local plumbing codes.
- Use plastic drain fittings where required to electrically isolate the fountain from the building plumbing system.
- This model is non-filtered and non-refrigerated. No electrical connection is required.
- When installed in non-temperature-controlled environments, protect and winterize the unit as necessary to prevent damage from extreme temperatures.
Basic Installation Overview:
- Prepare the installation site by excavating a trench deep enough to accommodate the underground plumbing, PVC valve column, and approximately 5 cubic feet of porous drainage fill. Additional fill may be needed depending on ground conditions.
- Install the underground water supply and drainage lines. Provide a service shut-off valve and flush the water supply line before connecting it to the freeze-resistant valve assembly.
- Position the PVC valve column vertically in the excavation and connect the water supply line. Install and test the freeze-resistant valve assembly for proper operation and leaks before backfilling.
- Position the valve fully at the bottom of the PVC column, arrange the supply tubing without kinks, and install the supplied insulation. Ensure the valve remains below the frost line.
- Backfill the excavation with appropriate porous drainage material and prepare the concrete mounting pad. Allow adequate clearance around the top of the PVC column for future valve servicing. Allow the concrete to cure for at least 4 hours before mounting the fountain.
- Secure the fountain to the concrete mounting pad using appropriate 3/8-inch minimum mounting fasteners. Level and shim the unit as necessary.
- Connect the bottle filler and drinking fountain tubing, including the water supply, air control lines, and drainage connections. Ensure all tubing is correctly routed and trimmed to prevent kinks or trapped water.
- Connect the combined drain system and verify that the water supply line has a proper downward drainage path to the freeze-resistant valve.
- Turn on the water supply and inspect all plumbing connections for leaks. Test the mechanical push-button activation, water flow, and valve operation.
- Reassemble the fountain, secure all access panels, and complete the final installation inspection.
Installation & Maintenance Considerations:
- Periodically inspect the bubbler, push-button mechanism, and plumbing connections for proper operation.
- If water flow becomes insufficient, check that the shut-off valve is fully open, verify adequate supply pressure, and inspect the valve inlet strainer for debris.
- Check the air control tubing for leaks, loose connections, or kinks if the fountain does not activate properly.
- Keep the freeze-resistant valve assembly accessible for servicing and ensure it remains properly positioned below the frost line.
- Have servicing and repairs performed by an authorized service person.
