It’s important to note that all of these categories have the option of being filtered or non-filtered , and refrigerated or non-refrigerated . Some will have these options built in, and some will require remote chilling and filtration to be added.
These were the first designs for the new bottle filling station product that Elkay developed. The term Combo, sometimes called Cooler Combo, refers to all the units that have a traditional drinking fountain on the bottom half and a bottle filler on the top half. These Combo units are then broken into a few different types, all being wall mounted, each having some distinctive features, as well as options.
The In-Wall category refers to the list of commercial units that are recessed into the wall, having more of a flush-mount look. These units can be bottle-filler-only, or can be paired with fountains built in as combo units, or installed side-by-side for a bi-level solution. The main benefits of these units are:
● Space-conserving design
● Hands-free operation on the bottle filler
NOTE: While these units are flush-mount on the front side, they require more space on the backside for the mechanicals. The refrigerated units require at least 12 inches of wall depth and at least 8 inches for the non-refrigerated.
The Surface Mount units are another bottle-filler-only solution, but one that doesn’t have the wall cavity space requirements of the In-Wall units. These are just as they say, mounted on the surface. Essentially they are the top half of the combo units...with no fountain. The benefits of these units are:
● Small footprint
● Easy installation
● Options to address multiple different application needs:
○ Filtered or unfiltered
○ Powered, battery operated and units requiring no power source at all
○ Option to add remote chiller to make unit refrigerated
These units are not ezH2O units, but have similar options like refrigeration and filtration. These are made for applications where there isn’t sufficient wall space for either In-Wall or On-Wall units. These all require a plumbed water line, and electricity, and some will require a remote unit that is mounted in a cabinet below or near the counter. These units are perfect for settings suchs as office space, medical offices, dealership lobbies, retail, etc. Some benefits of these
● Multiple profiles to fit many different needs
● Some units with ability to offer hot, chilled, or sparkling water
● Low-profile on-counter options like tap dispensers
● Some units with UV dispenser purification
● No drain line required
These units are made to give the option of turning a traditional water fountain into a bottle filling station combo unit. They come with the bottle filling portion of the unit, and have a new catch basin that replaces the one on the existing fountain. These units are made to tie into the existing plumbing and electrical, and add the option of adding filtration where it didn’t previously
**NOTE: We don’t recommend retro-fitting non-refrigerated units older than 10 years old, or refrigerated units older than 5 years old. (These new bottle fillers are made to demand a high output of water, and it can put too much strain on the older units, causing them to fail shortly after installation of the retro-fit. This will force you to buy a new fountain for the bottom half, and cost you more money in the long run than if you would have purchased a combo unit to begin
