Typical Installation:
Local codes shall govern installation requirements. Unless otherwise specified, the assembly shall be mounted on the cold water supply and at least 18 inches from the cold water inlet to the heater. Pre-charge should be adjusted to match incoming water pressure with no water pressure in tank. Maximum allowable pre-charge in this expansion tank is 80 PSI. A properly sized pressure relief valve set at a maximum of 150 PSI must also be installed in the system. For installations that have a supply pressure above 80 PSI, a properly sized pressure reducing valve should be installed on the system.

A: Based on the sizing chart, the Zurn XT-35 is suitable for water heaters ranging from 100 to 200+ gallons at 80 PSI supply pressure, or 60 to 200+ gallons at lower pressures, assuming a 100°F temperature rise.
Q: How do I adjust the pre-charge pressure on this tank?
A: The tank includes a standard tire valve (0.301"-32 charging valve connection) that allows you to adjust the pre-charge pressure using a standard air pump. Adjust only when no water pressure is in the tank, and set to match your incoming water pressure.
Q: Can the Wilkins XT-35 be used with high-temperature water systems?
A: Yes, while certified to NSF 61 for domestic hot water, the XT-35 is suitable for temperatures up to 200°F. However, it is not suitable for use on fire sprinkler systems as required by NFPA 13 or 13D.
