Everpure EV433913 (Claris XL) Filter Replacement Guide

Everpure EV433913 (Claris XL) Filter Replacement

The Everpure EV433913 is the replacement cartridge for the Everpure Claris XL filter system, used by owners and facility managers running specialty coffee, espresso, tea, and steam equipment. It reduces chlorine taste and odor and adjusts the hardness that leads to limescale. Plan each Everpure EV433913 filter replacement before the cartridge is spent, because a spent cartridge stops reducing chlorine and hardness.

Below, you'll find out exactly when it's time to replace the cartridge, how to make sure you're buying the right one for your setup, and a full walkthrough of the replacement itself.

Why and When You Should Replace the Filter

The EV433913 treats water with an ion-selective medium and a carbon block, and both wear out with use. As the cartridge nears the end of its life, it does less of the work it was built for. That includes the chlorine taste and odor reduction covered by its NSF/ANSI 42 certification, the carbonate hardness adjustment that holds back limescale, and the filtering of particles down to 5 microns.

Plan each Everpure EV433913 filter replacement around the spec sheet's rule: change the cartridge when its pre-calculated water volume is reached or at least once per year, whichever comes first. The rated capacity is listed in Everpure EV433913 Specifications. Actual capacity depends on the hardness of your water and the bypass setting on the filter head. Replace the cartridge when any of these apply:

  • The cartridge has treated its pre-calculated water volume
  • A year has passed since it was installed
  • Six months have passed and usage is heavy, since the Claris installation and operation guide recommends considering replacement after 6 months (and no later than 12) depending on usage
  • The cartridge has sat unused for more than 4 weeks without being flushed periodically

Prepare Your Replacement: Compatibility, Materials & Safety

Verify Filter & System Compatibility

Before an Everpure Claris XL filter replacement, check the label on the cartridge you're removing for part number EV4339-13 and the Claris XL name, and match both to the listing before you order. The Claris line also includes the S (EV4339-10), M (EV4339-11), L (EV4339-12), and XXL (EV4339-14). The same Claris filter head and mounting bracket fit every size, but each cartridge is rated for a different capacity.

🔍 Not sure which size you have? Check the label on your existing cartridge for the part number. The Claris XL is marked EV4339-13. Then compare it with the EV433913 product page here on BottleFillingStations.com. The head alone won't tell you, since every Claris size fits the same head.

🧰 Materials

🔵 New genuine Everpure EV4339-13 cartridge
🪣 Bucket or container for the flush hose
🧪 Titration kit for the hardness check after installation (accessory, not test strips)

⚠️ Safety Precautions

🌡️ Keep inlet pressure within 29–116 psi (2–8 bar), non-shock, with a pressure reducer on the supply side if it runs higher. Keep water temperature within 39–86°F (4–30°C).
🚰 Confirm a shutoff valve is installed upstream of the filter, and close it if the head will be left without a cartridge
🚫 Feed the system cold potable water only, and don't use it with microbiologically unsafe water or water of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system
❄️ Keep the system in a frost-free spot out of direct sunlight. If the cartridge was stored below 32°F (0°C), let it sit at the installation location for at least 24 hours first.
📦 Don't open or damage the cartridge

Step-by-Step Replacement Guide

🔧 6 STEPS · A FEW MINUTES · NO SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED
1
Position a Container. Place a bucket or other suitable container under the flush hose on the filter head before you touch the cartridge.
2
Remove the Used Cartridge. Slowly unscrew the used cartridge by turning it counter-clockwise until it unlocks from the head. The head shuts off its inlet and outlet automatically as you turn, and a small amount of expansion water may come out of the flush hose.
3
Open the Flush Valve. Open the flush/pressure release valve on the head and lead the flush hose into the container or to a drain.
4
Inspect the New Cartridge. Take the new cartridge out of its packaging, check it for damage, and confirm it's marked EV4339-13.
5
Insert and Lock the Cartridge. Insert the new cartridge into the head and turn it clockwise until it stops at the end position. This reopens flow through the head and starts venting and flushing the cartridge through the flush valve. Let it run for the full flush volume listed in What to Expect After Installing the New Filter.
6
Close the Flush Valve and Check for Leaks. Close the flush/pressure release valve once the flush is complete. Then check the head, cartridge, and hoses. Water must not escape from any point.

⚠️ Note: Adjust the bypass setting on the filter head only while the cartridge is locked in place.

Signs Your New Filter Is Not Installed Correctly

Once the flush valve is closed and water is flowing to the equipment, check for these signs:

  • Leaks or weeping at the inlet or outlet fittings or hoses: water must not escape from any point. Recheck the fittings at the head and reseat any connection that drips.
  • End-position marks don't line up: the mark on the cartridge should align with the mark on the mounting bracket, and the cartridge label should face forward. If they don't, the cartridge hasn't been turned fully clockwise.
  • Cartridge is loose or unsupported: on a wall-mounted unit, check that the mounting bracket is securely fastened to the wall.
  • Air or sputtering at the outlet after the flush: some milky water is expected at first, but it should clear once the full flush volume has run.
  • Noticeably reduced flow: confirm the cartridge is at its end position and the flush/pressure release valve is closed.
  • Chlorine taste or odor persists after flushing: confirm the full flush volume ran before judging the water.
  • Inlet pressure above 116 psi without a pressure reducer: the supply is over the cartridge's limit. See Prepare Your Replacement for the full operating range.

What to Expect After Installing the New Filter

A new cartridge can release air and fine carbon particles when water first runs through it, so the flush water often looks milky or cloudy. That cloudiness comes from air dispersing in the water, and the flush clears it. On the Claris XL, the cartridge flushes through the flush/pressure release valve as it locks into the head. Let more than 10 liters (3.0 US gal) run through before you close the valve.

If the water is still cloudy or discolored, air keeps sputtering from the outlet, or flow stays poor once the flush is done, recheck the connections and the cartridge's end position. Then confirm the full flush volume actually ran.

After the 10-liter (3.0 US gal) flush, run a quick performance check:

  • No leaks: the head, cartridge, and hoses stay dry.
  • Steady flow: water runs evenly at the outlet, without sputtering.
  • Hardness reading: use a titration kit, not test strips, to confirm the cartridge is reducing hardness.

If any of these checks fall short, go back through Signs Your New Filter Is Not Installed Correctly.

Official Installation Reference

Everpure's EV433913 spec sheet covers the cartridge's capacity, operating limits, certification, and installation and operation tips. For flushing, startup, and the capacity and bypass setting charts, it refers to the Claris installation, operation and maintenance manual.

Maintenance Tips for Longer Filter Life

These habits help the cartridge reach its rated capacity and help protect the equipment it feeds between replacements:

  • Replace on schedule: follow the capacity and time limits in Why and When You Should Replace the Filter.
  • Track water volume against capacity: the rated capacity changes with your water's hardness and the bypass setting. For steam applications and other hardness levels, use the capacity and bypass charts in the Claris installation and operation guide.
  • Mark the label: write the installation and replacement dates, along with the bypass setting, in the boxes on the cartridge label.
  • Keep inlet pressure in range: use a pressure reducer if the supply runs above the limit in Prepare Your Replacement, to protect both the cartridge and the equipment.
  • Check hardness reduction: test periodically with the titration kit listed in Prepare Your Replacement.
  • Check for leaks daily: inspect the fittings and hoses, and reseat any connection that drips. At each cartridge change, check all parts for dirt and damage, and replace damaged parts.
  • Flush after downtime: if the system sits unused, flush the Claris XL with 8 liters (2.0 US gal) after 1 week or 40 liters (11 US gal) after 4 weeks before use.
  • Clean the exterior: wipe exterior surfaces with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.

Keeping each Everpure Claris XL filter replacement on time stops scale-forming hardness from passing through a spent cartridge into espresso machines, steamers, and combi ovens.

Where to Buy Genuine Everpure EV433913

The NSF/ANSI 42 certification and rated capacity on Everpure's spec sheet belong to the genuine EV4339-13 cartridge. They don't carry over to counterfeit, aftermarket, or "compatible" cartridges, which may not match either one and can leave espresso and steam equipment unprotected. Buy from an authorized seller that lists the exact EV433913 part number and the Claris XL model, and check that the packaging and the cartridge label match before you install it.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Why is my new EV433913 cartridge leaking?

Usually the cartridge hasn't reached its end position, or a hose fitting at the head isn't seated. Turn the cartridge clockwise until it stops and its mark lines up with the mark on the bracket, then recheck the fittings and reseat any that drip. Water should not escape from any point. More checks are in Signs Your New Filter Is Not Installed Correctly.

The old cartridge is hard to remove. What should I do?

Turn it slowly counter-clockwise. A Claris cartridge unscrews to unlock from the head rather than pulling straight down. The head shuts off its inlet and outlet on its own as the cartridge turns, so a small amount of expansion water from the flush hose is normal. Keep a container under the hose to catch it. If the head will be left empty, close the upstream shutoff valve first. The full sequence is in the Step-by-Step Replacement Guide.

Why is flow low after the replacement?

Check that the upstream shutoff valve is fully open, the flush/pressure release valve is closed, the cartridge is at its end position, and the hoses aren't kinked. If flow has dropped gradually rather than right after the change, the cartridge may be due for replacement. See the schedule in Why and When You Should Replace the Filter.

How do I confirm I'm ordering the right cartridge?

Check the label on your current cartridge for part number EV4339-13 and the Claris XL name. Go by the cartridge label, not the head, because the same Claris head takes every Claris size. Details are in Prepare Your Replacement.

These cartridges fit the same Everpure Claris filter heads in different capacities. Confirm the part number and capacity your application needs before you order.
