Everpure Water Filter Replacement: When & How to Change Cartridges

Replacing your Everpure water filter cartridge on time keeps your water clean and tasting great. This simple guide explains when and how to do an Everpure water filter cartridge replacement.

Why You Need to Replace Everpure Cartridges

Everpure filters reduce chlorine taste, lead, cysts, and other contaminants. Over time, the cartridge fills up and stops working well. An old cartridge can cause slow flow, bad taste, and less protection.

Regular replacement ensures good water quality and protects your system.

When to Replace Your Everpure Cartridge

Replace most residential cartridges every 6 months or when you reach the gallon limit — whichever comes first.

Common models:

  • H-300: 300 gallons or 6–12 months
  • H-104: 1,000 gallons or 6–12 months
  • EF-3000 / PBS-400: 3,000 gallons
  • MC2 and i4000² (commercial): 9,000–12,000+ gallons

Replace sooner if you notice:

  • Slower water flow
  • Bad taste or smell
  • Lower pressure

Tip: Set a reminder every 6 months.

How to Change an Everpure Cartridge (Step by Step)

  1. Shut off the water supply (use the valve on the filter head if available).
  2. Open the faucet to release pressure until water stops flowing.
  3. Turn the old cartridge left (counter-clockwise) ¼ turn and pull it down to remove.
  4. Unwrap the new cartridge. Push it up into the head and turn right (clockwise) ¼ turn until it locks.
  5. Turn the water back on.
  6. Flush the new cartridge by running water for 3–5 minutes. Some air or cloudy water at first is normal.
  7. Check for leaks.

For systems with multiple cartridges, repeat for each one and flush the whole system.

Helpful Maintenance Tips

  • Use genuine Pentair Everpure cartridges for best results.
  • Replace pre-filters at the same time if your system has them.
  • Store spare cartridges in a cool, dry place.
  • Flush every new cartridge before normal use.
